Covington Memorial Park
This 20-acre lakefront development, located on the south side of Rural Hall, was donated to the Town by the Covington family in the early 1980’s. Original construction was funded by the U. S. Department of the Interior’s Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF). AWCK has been involved in all park projects over the past 20 years, including the design and construction of a new shelter and tot lot in 2000. The park has had four construction phases, the first two using LWCF funding and the last two with PARTF matching grants. The park contains a lakefront walking/exercise trail, shelters with restrooms and an outdoor stone fireplace, tot lot, baseball/softball field, tennis courts, horseshoe pits, and outdoor volleyball court, and a new parking area.
